Introduction to Gliding
A genuine hands-on introduction for people who are curious about the sport and want to experience flying the glider.
More than a passenger flight
Your instructor will explain the aircraft, the weather and the basics of soaring. At appropriate times in flight, you will be offered the controls to try straight-and-level flying and perhaps some turns.

Before take-off
A pre-flight briefing covering the weather, instruments and controls.
An introduction to the aircraft and the principles behind soaring.
One aerotow is included in the package.
In the air and afterwards
1 to 1.5 hours of flying in a DuoDiscus.
Hands-on control time when your instructor considers it appropriate.
A debrief after landing, with time for your questions.
This is an instructional first-time lesson for people interested in gliding, conducted under Gliding New Zealand’s Part 149 system. If you want a sightseeing-only scenic flight and do not wish to fly the glider yourself, please contact Glide Queenstown, a Part 115 scenic-flight operator.
